Velocity : 40th Annual Athletic Meet

Best athletes of IT thronged the Gymkhana grounds and set it ablaze as the 40th ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET was organised on 13th-14th Feb.'10. All the events witnessed an overwhelming participation both from the resilient old horses and the ever enthusiastic 1st yearites. Although the familiar faces held their forte in most of the events, the 1st yearites did leave their mark and proved their mettle.All the athletes displayed masterful demonstration of their incredible talent and insatiable desire to win.While some sailed smoothly over the victory mark,others had to face stiff competition in the bid to win.


Pramant Singh Nagar(III Mining) was adjudged The Best Athlete(Men),whereas Surbhi(II Meta) bagged the honour in women's category.Overall atletics championship went to the II yearites.

Pramant Singh Nagar,who captains the Men's IT-Athletic team,expressed his satisfaction over the bunch of athletes that have been finalised for Spardha'10 on the basis of this Athletic Meet.He seemed sure that the team will outclass every opponent in the upcoming Spardha events.

Atheletics : Prerna Meena

Leading the Athletics team this year is Prerna Meena, III year ceramic engg. student. Apart from winning medals in Spardha'09, She has also participated in Udghosh (IIT-K sports meet). In 2009 the team's overall position was good. The team boasts of experienced Prachi ,Surbhi,Madhu who have previously won medals in Spardha and BITS Pilani. The presence of talented 1st yearite, Antima has increased the team's odds of being successful. With loads of grilling practice to boast of, the girls are all fired up to excel.

This resilient 3rd year Electronics Engineering student is all set to weave magic with her raquet again this Spardha.A resident of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, She has won silver in spardha’08 , IT-open and gold and silver in all the games in the Electronics society events in the year 2008, 2009.The team had a decent outing at SPARDHA'08, pocketing a silver medal. Although the team was unlucky in Spardha'09, the team is determined to perform well this year as the team seems to have worked on the basics. Accompanied by Stuti Bajaj, the duo has been playing together for the past 2 yrs.The presence of freshers has increased the energy quotient of the team.
