Day 2: Cricket

The second day of SPARDHA '10  encountered with great ups and downs for the teams. In CRICKET, the day was packed with 8 matches between 16 different teams.

The students of IT BHU has a great passion for this sport. So the matches witnessed a great crowd. The matches were organized in the KINGS PAVILLION GROUND and ATHLETICS GROUND. The day begun with the match between RKGIT and  M.E.R.I. in which RKGIT won the toss and elected to bat. The college made a score of 140 runs with a loss of 4 wickets.However, the chasing team failed to reach the score and lost the match by a minute difference  of 8 runs
.
Above match was followed by a match between SSCET and BIT. But the team from BIT gave very fatal results in this match. They were unable to chase the score of 195 runs(highest score of he day) created by SSCET as a result of which they lost the match with a huge difference of  70 runs. In the 3rd match there were the teams from IERT and GALGOTIA. This match was full of suspense till the end as both the teams played equally well. However, IERT emerged out to be the winning team with 7 wickets.

Next came the match between IGI and YMCA in which IGI created a score of 89 runs. This small score was easily achieved by the counter team and the match ended with a mighty four by Sachin(not SACHIN TENDULKAR!!!!!!!)

Then came the most awaiting match between IT BHU and LDC. And in this match ITians smashed the opposing team.The toss was won by IT BHU and it elected to bowl. LDC aggregated a huge score of 50 runs for IT BHU(lowest score of the day!!!!!!!).This target was very easily chased by ITians in 4 overs only with a loss of only 2 wickets.DHANANJAY SINGH was declared as the man of the match.

Match no. 6 was between BSACET and UGI in which BSACET won the match with 6 wickets.The match between KNMIET and KNGDMEC slipped from the hands of KNGDMEC and it dropped into the basket of KNMIET. They won the match by 6 wickets.

The last match of the day ended with a great charm. It was scheduled between AMU and BSAITM and AMU won the toss and elected to bat. They created a good score of 132 runs. Danish made 70 runs in 50 balls only. However,BSAITM also responded heavily and they had a good start up. But, as the match succeeded it seemed as if it was going in the favour of AMU.The wickets of BSAITM fall down to 8 .Suddenly the situation turned around and the batsman played well. Finally, BSAITM was able to chase the target and they won the match by 2 wickets.

With this ended the series of cricket matches of the day, leaving behind a more enthusiasm for the winning teams to continue their chariot of victory....................We wish luck to all teams....

Day 2: Chess

The first day of the Chess championship saw some great clashes between mindknights from various institutes across the nation. None of the players gave away their matches and fought till the very end.

The first match was between BSAEI and LDC ALLAHABAD. BSAEI won all 4 of their matches and has hence made a strong start in the league. In an another clash of brains MERI KOLKATA defeated Dr. K. N. MODI again won all 4 of their matches. The battle between KNGD MEC and BIT DURG ended on a high note as both the teams won 2 matches each and shared equal points. In the final match of the day RKGIT beat JDCT INDORE easily winning all the four matches. The captain of BSAEI said 'It is a very great experience for me to come here and perform well. There are a lot things which I have learnt from my mistakes and I am eagerly waiting for the upcoming matches'. 

A number of enthusiastic first yearites were also present at the King's Pavilion who are not in the IT team but this has not decreased their passion for Chess and improving their game. The IT team will be playing it's first game tomorrow and the players are pretty confident of living up to the expectations and win this battle of brains...

Day 2: Football

The football fever continued on the second day of the Spardha,2010 too.The red, blue and grey T-shirts again came forward to decorate the beautiful 120x80 fields of Kings' Pavillion & Rajputana ground.The morning session seemed blurred, however, the evening exhibited the excitement & beauty of football. 


Both the morning matches ended in a draw, however, the evening came up with results. IT won the match but the game was not up to the expectations of IT-JUNTA. The star team of the day was BSA who defeated Ganpati convincingly. 

There are three more days to go and the competition in the league is getting tougher.Tomorrow has got a number of new perspectives to reveal. The expectations from IT team are high.

The entire IT JUNTA is invited to come and become a part of winning team with their cheering and support.

Football

Day 2: Hand Ball

A total of eight teams have turned up to fight for Handball supremacy. Hand of God created controversies for Maradona, but that is what all the players from these teams need right now. It is a knockout tournament that these teams have to survive. With the end of the day’s play KNGDMEC is already out of the competition along with MERI, Kolkata.

The match between IT-BHU and MERI was an enthralling encounter. While the captain played his role to perfection, the defense ably supported the attack by consistently supplying them with passes. The forwards were on a goal-scoring spree to take the match firmly in the grip of the home team.

Volley Ball: Day 1

The first day of Volleyball witnessed great performances under the flood lights. The IT team cruised to victory crushing Galgotia college in straight sets 25-7 and 25-10. The IT team won by raising thier sweat on their serve only.In an another match SSCET,Bhilai defeated BIT Durg in straight sets with the score line 25-9 and 25-19.But the third match between MERI and K.N.MODI was sensational. The first set went to K.N.MODI 25-19 but MERI fought hard and won the second set 25-13. In the deciding set both the teams fought real hard and made all attempts to knock down the concentration of the opponents. But eventually MODI escaped a narrow victory. MERI players were not happy with the judgement of the last point which was the deciding factor of the game. The match was so close that all the spectators were in pin-drop silence and the only sound audible was the thumping of hearts...

But this was only the first day and there are more exciting clashes to come in the next four days......!!!!!!

Basketball : Day 1

Basketball,right from the start lived up to its expectations.It proved to be an excellent crowd-grosser.The onlookers had a great time witnessing some highly energetic nail-biting matches.Our IT team stamped their authority over Academy of Technology,Hoogly beating them blue and black.

In other matches SRM edged past SCET,Bhilai winning with a final score of 37-30 and YMCA lost to MERI,Kolkata with the scoreline  reading  21-36.Int the last match of the day UGI defeated KNGD 30-20.

Weird o' zone----------AOT,Hoogly arrived with a total of 12 players and they participated in none of the other events.Sadly,they were sent packing by IT so early.

YMCA were so eager to play their first match that they didn't even register themselves.

Football : Day 1 @ Spardha 2010


It was a stunning opening to Spardha 2010. The lush green fields of Rajputana Ground & King's Pavillion saw eight pioneering teams making their path towards glory awaiting them.

In pool A MERI,Kolkata defeated K.N. Modi Institute of Technology quite comprehensively. On the other hand, it was SSCET bringing down Galgotia College of Engineering to its knees. The last two matches were played under the floodlights of Kings Pavillion,IT-Gymkhana Pool C saw a BSA team surrendering to the might of BIT Durg.To end the day,in the Pool D AMU registered a thumping victory over UGI.

It was just the first day of football action.................  Four more days to go.No prices for guessing,what's in store for the remaining days. The IT team did not have a match today.They will get a chance to exhibit their skills tomorrow.

Spardha 2010 begins.......


Finally,the day of reckoning has arrived.!!!!!! Spardha '10 commenced with an exuberant inaugral ceremony.

Things kicked off in a very ceremonial fashion with an enthusiastic march past by the participating teams.The Convenor Satyendra Nath Singh was the Torch Bearer.The evening was also marked by speeches from eminent personalities. Sri Satish Kanaujia, Secretary, Gymkhana, enlightened everyone about Spardha's glorious past and  claimed that this SPARDHA is bigger and better than the previous events. He was followed by the Gymkhana President Sri P.K.Mishra,  who appealed the students to enjoy the fest maintaining discipline at the same time. Our honourable chief guest Sri Gauri Shankar Singh, whose family boasts of some great sportsmen, stressed on the importance  of sports in one's life. He felt nostalgic as he recollected his college memories. The Guest of Honour Mrs. Neelu Mishra, a state level hockey player emphasised on the importance of sportsman spirit and requested the participants to play the game fair and square. After that our convener Sri Satyendra Nath Singh welcomed all the participating teams and organised an oath taking ceremony for all the teams.

All these formal events were followed by exhilarating performances by IT dance groups. A very dazzling display of fireworks imprinted the SPARDHA effect on the sky too.

The Director said that he has his full support to the SPARDHA organisers and wished luck to all the teams.

HAR HAR MAHADEVVVVVV...thats the IT-BHU naara for SPARDHA 10.....so come join the team...
