Day 5: Glory Attained

The final day of Spardha saw great sporting action from all the finalists. It was a delight to watch as the matches were really interesting and the crowd was making it more lively. The day started off with the Cricket final, a close encounter won by IT-BHU, consecutively champions of cricket for the 4th time. Badminton was a little bit disappointing as the IT team lost both the men's and the women's final but the Basketball team didn't disappoint at all and bagged the gold medal. The IT team was not in the finals of Football but it didn't reduce the enthusiasm of Football fans who saw a crunching final. The Hockey team also didn't disappoint an bagged the gold too. Kabaddi, the lost sport, also brought glory to IT-BHU and the game played after 6 years, Taek-won-do also gave the same result. IT players also won gold in Squash, Kho-Kho and Handball. The volleyball matches were close and the boys failed to win the finals but the girls team didn't disappoint at all, winning gold.

The day also had the finals of the informal events Roadies and Mixed cricket which attracted a lot of crowd.

Finally, the five day fiesta ended with the prize distribution ceremony and this year too SPARDHA was a great success. Kudos to all the organizers and participants.

The match between SSCET & BIT Durg was the closest one of the tournament as expected. After a fine display of football skills the match was forcefully dragged to penalty shoot out. Finally it was BIT Durg bagging the gold beating SSCET by just 5-4 score in penalty shoot out.

Well football was a grand success in Spardha. In all, thirteen teams had registered to achieve the glory awaiting them. Finally it was the mettle of BIT DUrg which proved to be the strongest.

Hockey:

Another gold added to the jewel list of hockey team. After a disappointing defeat in the last game, the team came up with a great force and scrap the gold from the mouth of M.E.R.I.Everything was made for victory today, the nice goals by ASHISH(JIGGA) and MANISH show the rest of left yesterday. They came as storm and wrap M.E.R.I. in the midst of it.There was no answer made for them. The goals was the result of great passing from the forwards RAJKAMAL and ADITYA . The counter defence from captain JAYANT(SASHA) and goalie GUPTA deleted all the chances of the opponents to bounce back.It was a light game till first half but we didn’t show any mercy in the second half and utilised all the chances to convert them into goals. The commitment from captain before tournament proved exactly what he said and again the gold medal was in our pocket.Huge celebration after the match.

"It was a great game.We were up to the mark, although there were some faults but we made it.The victory is devoted to all the players specially to the seniors and the first yearites who show the real devotion"captain Jayant.

"Amazing to witness these kinds of game.It was up to the mark and all the plyers contributed equally"vice captain Ashish.

"There will be some amazing changes in the hockey standard in near future and we will come up as a great combition. So donot miss the game and keep an eye". VIVEK and RAJ
